I am retired. Love to travel the world. Japan is my top destination: people, food, culture, scenery, and onsen. Been to Japan around 31 times, for business and vacation. Walked the Shikoku pilgrimage (ohenro) three times, in 2016, 2019, and 2023. Since November 2019, decided to learn Japanese in earnest. I am Dana. I am retired from work. Now I like to work around my house, cook, read, travel, and watch movies and sports.
In 2019 my wife and I had two Japanese students stay with us for 3 weeks. They came to an English program at a local university. So now I am learning to speak some Japanese and I hope to visit Japan someday. I studied Japanese for more than two years but feel I did not make enough progress so took some months off. I would like to start over. I hope that what I have studied before will come back to me and I will progress faster.
I would like to find a Language Exchange partner that could help me learn Japanese with beginning conversations and short written messages. I am interested in daily life and Japanese cooking. I also want to help you with English and increase your comfort and confidence in speaking it. I find that many Japanese know English well, but need practice and confidence in speaking. I would love to talk with Japanese people in English and learn more about Japan and daily life.
