Hello wonderful people of the world! My name is Silas, I'm 25, born and raised in the U.S. I'm half black and half Native American (Choctaw specifically, my great grandmother was born and raised on a Native Reservation and my grandfather was born less than 20 miles off of it.) I'm a fluent speaker of both English and my mother language of Chahta Anno̱pa, (Choctaw language) and having grown up in a city with a lot of Spanish speakers I was formerly fluent in Spanish too. (A goal I'm working towards is getting back fluent in that language again!)
I'm an avid reader, writer and nature lover with a great joy for learning (and practicing) new languages. I'm very warm-hearted, kind, patient and compassionate with other people and I have a big heart for learning things about other people's culture and customs.
I come from a very academically rigorous background, as I used to be a tutor in High School and College. I'm actually in the process of getting my TEFL certification so that by the end of 2026 I'll be fully certified at teaching English! (Another one of my goals is finishing up my Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering).
I'm a very kind, patient, open and accepting person, and if you reach out to me for help in learning English I'll do my best to help you! I have over 5 years of tutoring experience in English, so I can safely say I can help give you a structured way of learning the language and quickly improving your confidence in speaking and listening, and setting you on a fast track to near-native levels of fluency.
I feel like language is the doorway to the human soul, and for that reason I'm determined to learn and practice as many languages as possible. I've been doing language exchange for two years now, and I'm so honored to have met so many kind, warm hearted and wonderful people on this site! I never thought I would ever come this close to reaching my language goals in such a short period of time, but thanks to the friends I've made here I can proudly say I've made great progress.

Hello all, I'm an addict to languages that's trying to meet other people that are also heavily invested into expanding their vocabulary in other languages. I grew up with a latino community in Georgia so I'm always game to practice Spanish. I just came back from backpacking every country in Latin America for a year, so I speak Spanish at strongly fluent level. I love running and climbing as well as playing a game of chess here or there. That being said, let's get a chat going.

I am retired. I live in Northern California. I love to read, especially literary fiction. I enjoy live theater and opera, and museums of almost any kind. I worked in information technology for most of my career. I enjoy traveling and going to new places. I really want to learn French fluently, even though (or perhaps especially because) I'm still only at a low B1 level.

Hello! I am a multi-year student studying Korean who is still very nervous speaking Korean.I am looking to practice consistently outside of my Korean class. I only ask that when we match up that our practice time be consistent. I am in a book club where I read Hangul a lot but I do look up a lot of words since my pronunciation and vocabulary isn’t that great.
I used to work in tech, then decided I wanted to go to culinary school to be a chef. After 12 years in the food service industry, I recently went back to University for a career change - back to tech.

French: I have a B2 level and am working on getting to C1.
Chinese: I currently have HSK 4 level, but would like to just meet more people
Russian: I have a solid A1 level and know all but 1 of the cases. I really like russian music and history
Persian: I have a shakey A2 level and an amazing tutor, but would love to meet more people from Iran.
Arabic: I have an A1 level and i am learning MSA right now, but eventually I would like to learn a Gulf dialect, but i would enjoy talking to any speaker.
Slovene: My sister and I split an online course fee, so I am currently working through that, but would love to meet some people. I'm visiting Slovenia for the first time this summer, so maybe we could meet up in person.
Spanish: I'm mainly learning this for work-related reasons, and also for travelling because I'd like to go to Latin America sometime soon. I also want to broaden my perspectives and learn more about the people who live there.
