Hi I have just started learning Mandarin. I live on the North Shore and was hoping to find some people to meet, get to know and practice with. It’s early days so I’m hoping to meet some new people make some new friends and get to know them.
My main hobby is the gym but I also study meditation and personal performance and improvement.

English is my native language, and I speak some Malay, Indonesian, Chinese, Japanese, and bits of Arabic, Russian, and Kirundi — still learning and always improving. I genuinely enjoy the process of learning languages and how they connect to culture and everyday life. I just got back from 2 years living and teaching in Asia, so it's good to be home!
Naturally, being a teacher, I have friends from all over the world and all of my friends were massively multicultural growing up, hence my culture and ability to speak multiple languages
I’m happy to help with English conversation, pronunciation, or natural expressions, and I’m especially keen to practice Japanese, Mandarin, or Korean.

I only started learning and practicing about it a year and a half ago but since none in my circle speaks in that accent, it’s a bit difficult for me to practice and improve my Scottish speaking. I am a retired school teacher and children's choir director. I love singing, nature, walking, puzzles, and board games. I'm learning Spanish because we travel every summer to a home where we stay in Lanzarote, Canary Islands. Plus it's good for my brain! I am at Spanish level A2, almost B1. I would love to have more practice regularly speaking Spanish with a patient native speaker, and to help you practice English.

I live in Auckland and love to travel every couple of years. I believe you have a better experience when you speak the language of the country you travel to. I speak Italian fairly well and Spanish quite well and am part of a Spanish meetup group so can practice. However I have started Portuguese a year ago and there are no Portuguese groups here. I'd like to practise European Portuguese in the evening or weekends and would love to chat with someone from Portugal! I'm in my sixties but happy to talk to people of any age.
