My name is Maggie, I am originally from Poland but I've been living in the UK for 18 years. I started learning Japanese around 2 years ago, but the progress is a bit slow, mostly because I don't have enough opportunity to talk...
I'm looking to improve my conversation skills and to learn more about Japan.
I'm interested in music, books and martial arts (I practice Shaolin Kung Fu), food and all aspects of Japanese culture (I love manga and anime!).
I started to learn Japanese in the first place, because of my absolute love for Japanese hardcore/punk music. I work as an accountant, but I also run my own, small record label called Chopstick Records and I release Japanese hardcore music here, in the UK.
I also write a blog dedicated to Japanese hardcore, where I publish interviews with musicians, new albums reviews and anything related to Japanese underground, heavy tunes. I try to promote Japanese artists on this side of the world.
I like to talk to people and learn their stories, especially when it accompanied by a good cup of coffee or tea. I can help you with English and also Polish.. Let's talk 🌸

Hey! I’m Derick – currently living in North London and always on the lookout for new experiences (and good coffee, of course!).
Languages I speak (or try to!):
Portuguese is my native language, but I get by in English and Spanish – both at an intermediate level. I’m always looking to improve, so any chance to practise is much appreciated!
What I’m into:
I’m all about yoga, cakes, and coffee. Honestly, there’s nothing better than unwinding with a good cup of coffee (or a glass of wine, depending on the mood) and having a chat. Oh, and I’m a big fan of sci-fi films and series – if there’s a binge-watch session happening, count me in!

O que curto fazer:
Eu amo ioga, bolos e cafés. Sério, não tem nada melhor do que relaxar com um bom café (ou vinho, dependendo do dia) e bater um papo. Ah, e sou viciado em filmes e séries de ficção científica – se tiver uma maratona rolando, eu tô dentro!

Hello, I live in London with my partner, and have been studying Italian for a couple of years and am at lower-intermediate level, but in need of more practice and confidence when it comes to speaking and listening. I watch a lot of Italian TV, read, go to Italy at least 3-4 times per year and had a very enjoyable and productive (in terms of learning) stay with a family in Mantua last year. So I'd love to have a regular exchange with someone who can help me along with Italian conversation and I can help them with their English.
I work in education, I'm a designer but I have done many things including running my own bars and restaurants and been a carer for my mother.
I'm really interested in the arts, music especially opera. TV, theatre, reading, visiting museums, photography etc. I am fascinated by European history (especially Italian ancient and recent history), also politics and ideas generally, so lots to talk about! If only my Italian were that good. A weekly catchup on Zoom would be idea - don't mind about m/f age or whatever. If you think we might be able to help one another then please drop me a line. Thanks.
